Experts have warned that the current jet fuel shortage might put an end to numerous summer holiday plans, as airlines have cut two million seats from May's schedules within the past two weeks as the Iran war continues

Following the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East in February, the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz has blocked 20 per cent of global oil shipments, triggering a worldwide fuel shortage that has been predicted to fall to 'critically low levels'. 

But while several airlines, including Turkish Airlines, Air China and Lufthansa, have axed thousands of flights, many appear to be running as normal.

Some carriers have gone as far as significantly slashing the price of holiday packages and flights.

EasyJet, Wizz Air, and British Airways are paradoxically offering competitive deals and flash sales for the upcoming summer season - with some fares reduced to as low as £13.
